West Village + Indian Village Engagement Session // Abby and Josh

December 6, 2020

Like many of the most fabulous people I’ve ever known, Abby and Josh came to me by way of their dog, Rosie. (to clarify, Rosie doesn’t usually introduce me to new people, but I do usually meet great people through their pets on Rover or the dog park) She’s not only the greatest little doodle angel in the world (sorry, other doodle angels), but she’s also my dog’s best friend, and after many, many walks with those two, it’s only fitting that I should eventually befriend her biggest fans, Abby and Josh.

Being that these two are the kind of people that make you feel at home by being in their company, I was honored to have been their afternoon third-wheel one fine afternoon this past summer to photograph them in some mid-summer engagement splendor. What’s more, these two were at the time preparing to take a leap of faith and move away to start anew on the West Coast.

While I’m so happy for them that they have now nestled into their new life in Portland, OR, I think that it’s only right to remind them how missed they are in Detroit every now and then. (And it’s then, now) I am so honored to have been there to help leave you with some memories that you can keep with you of your last days of your first chapter.

Engagements are so important to celebrate and remember, but you know what? So is moving addresses, leaving behind your past zip code and bringing the love(s) of your life with you to grow together into a new life. Not necessarily better or worse than before, but different for the sake of expansion and growth.. with your for-better-or-for-worse.
