I want the record to show that it was much, much colder in real life than these photos may indicate. On arrival to the Cranbrook Gardens trails for this beautiful winter elopement session, I actively reminded myself about one too many times how naïve I was to not upgrade myself to the warmest parka I had in my closet for the session.
Speaking of clothing choices, Rachel’s outfit [insert manic heart eye emoji here]. It’s just incredible and the colors are magical and every piece from her coat to shoes are giving Coolest Winter Bride. Will’s shirt print and coat combo is a perfect match, and even the pups’ leash/collars are perfectly thought out. I aspire to this kind of detailed thinking when coordinating a look for myself.
I live for these kinds of sessions — peaceful, intimate, authentic. Winter elopements especially have this kind of quieting calm that washes over the session that is just so.. swoony? (I don’t have a way with words.) I love having honor of photographing badass couples like this one who are aiming for a day that is unique to the connection they share and rather than prioritizing traditions that don’t speak to them. Usually this means elopements. Or only inviting your dogs to your elopement. Or wearing anything but white. You name it.
Thank you, Rachel and Will, for sharing this gorgeous morning with me. You two are so, so special and I’m grateful to know you both <3
