I have no clue what anyone else is doing with themselves this winter to feel moderately fine- I will be the first to tell you that my one-track-mind for escaping the weather in a way that makes me very much aware of how tedious it is try get me to chat about much else. That being said, I had temporarily come back to my lovely hometown for the better part of the month for some reprieve, and oh man. Yes. With Brunch and Happy Hour being indefinitely put on hold in Detroit on account of the outdoors having become a complete frozen tundra, I was beside myself at the chance to have some time in the sunshine with Daisy and her sweet Pit Bull mix, Kilo.
Daisy – most simply put- is a fiery and sweet lil genius of plants, lover of all good style, and mama of this beautiful rescue baby. She is the epitome of how stylish it is to be a loyal, loving friend. She’s honestly just a ride-or-die that is there for laughing and dancing and eating tacos alongside with.
By the time the afternoon rolled around on this particular day, it took one phone call, a take out order for our weight in tacos, and about 20 minutes before we were safely/distantly reunited in a sweet spot in the sun in lovely Silver Lake, CA, followed by a lengthy walk through the winding streets of this east side Los Angeles neighborhood, full of charming homes adorned with lush plants and succulents.
On that note- hot tip that I wish I had thought about in retrospect: always keep a spare blanket in your car for impromptu picnics. I will not speak more to this on account of thinly escaping grass stains on my jeans, but it was a close call and I don’t want to bank on the same luck again.
Anyway. Here’s an abbreviated gallery of photos from this particular afternoon of puppy smooches and plant worship.
