Riverside Nature Shoot at Chimney Rock, NC // Reese

September 21, 2020

Chimney Rock is, at the very least, completely charming. (I mean, I could just lump in Lake Lure general area here, but let’s be honest- that very well could and will be an entire other post). The main village of Chimney Rock is nestled between these cinematic mountains with granite outcropping and sits alongside a quaint river. There’s a few restaurants, shops, and a vineyard just casually hanging out along the main street, a little flowering bridge with tiny tchotchkes and literal giant butterflies pretty much all over the place (more on that in aforementioned later post).

So, about Reese. Being one of my closest friends ever since our Charleston, SC days about a decade back, it felt only fitting to invite myself over for a week-long hang after her wedding and home buying adventures finally have come to fruition. I love celebrating my friends and their success, so I was especially pumped to fly out, drive out, and make my way over there to sing this badass’s praises after a year of doing The Most to get plan a wedding (and then replan an elopement), become a homeowner, and keep her business afloat throughout a literal pandemic. Oh, also, did I mention?? She’s also this insanely talented powerhouse of photographic magic. (check out her work: http://www.reesemorephotography.com )

Anyway before I get super caught up on a tangent (as one is wont to do when bragging about how proud they are of the ones they love): one of my last days visiting her, we headed out to Chimney Rock to admire the water, rocks, and sunset. I’ll note, that this entire shoot comprised of me wearing a very poufy-sleeved gingham frock that tickled my face on several occasions as I was taking the photos. It’s a miracle I overrode my initial knee-jerk reactions to assume I had bugs/other tiny mountain creatures attacking my face. Ps on this note, I don’t think I saw really any squirrels while I was there? Can anyone confirm that this is a thing? Or was I too mesmerized by all the deer prancing around casually?

I am veering off topic again. CHIMNEY ROCK. YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL. Thank you, Reese, for being my long-lost sister, late night phone call, brick thief, mentor, photo muse, and fellow cheese fry enthusiast.

Until next time, lil cutie town.
